Everyday Communities Print Version

Our kids, our future, our responsibility

Child abuse is an issue that concerns many New Zealanders. In response to this growing public concern Child, Youth and Family has developed Everyday Communities, an innovative programme that aims to raise public awareness of issues of child abuse, neglect and family violence. Everyday Communities recognises that all New Zealanders have a part to play in preventing child abuse.

Since its inception in 2001 five regions in New Zealand have benefited from the Everyday Communities initiative — Northland, Whakatane, Wairarapa, Whanganui and South Auckland Pacific communities.

The overarching goal of the Everyday Communities programme is 'New Zealanders acting to achieve wellbeing and safety for our children.'
