10th Australasian Conference on Child Abuse and Neglect

Child, Youth and Family, together with the Ministry of Social Development and the Children’s Commissioner, is sponsoring the 10th Australasian Conference on Child Abuse and Neglect (ACCAN)  to be held in Wellington from 14-16 February 2006. The conference theme is Kia Puawai Nga Tamariki, Blossoming of Our Children – Resilience, Rights, Responsibilities and we are planning for children and young people to be involved in all aspects of the conference.

The conference organisers are now inviting abstracts for papers to be presented in concurrent sessions at this conference relevant to the following themes:

  • Blossoming of our children
  • Discipline and guidance of children
  • Child Abuse in the context of family violence
  • Research and practice connection
  • Resilience
  • Children’s rights
  • Children’s voices

The closing date for receipt of abstracts is 12 July 2005.

ACCAN aims to provide a forum for the exchange and discussion of ideas and strategies concerning the prevention, and interventions for the treatment, of child abuse and neglect.
