Youth Justice Coordinators

Description:

We are seeking an two outcome focused Coordinators, one full time and the other part time (0.5) to join our busy, stimulating, community focussed, Youth Justice Team at our Rotorua Office.  The Youth Justice Coordinator works with families and the wider community to hold the young person accountable and to address the factors which caused them to offend.  They utilize the combined knowledge of the community resources, networks and opportunities to create an alternative offending free future for the young person.  The YJ Coordinator is responsible for managing Family Group Conferences (FGC’s) in terms of the Children, Young Persons and their Families Act 1989.

Successful applicants will aspire to excellence, be outcome focussed and have:

  • Superior group facilitation and mediation skills
  • Experience in the youth justice / social services sector
  • Skilled networking and community relationship building
  • Energy and motivation with the ability to work flexible hours
  • Interest in improving their community
  • The capability to implement change successfully
  • The ability to work in culturally appropriate ways with children, young people and families
