Applications are invited from an enthusiastic person for a fixed term social work position with the Sydenham Youth Justice team. The position is until 30 June 2011 and is a backfill for a staff member who is on secondment. It is a great opportunity for the right person to try out working in Youth Justice within Child Youth and Family and within a great team environment!
The preferred applicant will hold a Level 6 on the NZQA framework qualification in Social Work or other relevant tertiary qualification with an emphasis on Social Work or Youth Work and have a passion for working with young people to make a positive difference in their lives. A social work qualification that is recognised by the Social Work Registration Board. Other skills and attributes are:
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• A knowledge of youth justice processes and systems
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• An ability to competently manage self and workload,
• Experience in working effectively as a team member
• An ability to work cross culturally and within community.
• Ability to work effectively with young people and families to achieve positive outcomes
• Well-developed computer skills
• Hold a current, full time drivers licence.
• Maori or Pacific Island cultural skills would be an advantage.
