It’s a bright new year, and just weeks from now we’ll be celebrating national Children’s Day – Sunday 3 March 2013.

We’d love your help in encouraging the people, schools, and groups you know to plan something special this Children’s Day.  Last year there were hundreds of events held up and down the country – from fun filled family days, to teddy bear’s picnics, through to huge events like the Toddler’s Day Out.

Groups like the Porirua community group, supported by the City Council, put on an awesome day.  Kids loved the sausage sizzle, pirates parade and polaroid photo booth.  There were lots of stalls and resources for parents too.

Children’s Day is all about treasuring our children, so that means supporting parents and encouraging positive family time.

Ask your team, friends, or colleagues to get on board, and treasure the children in their life.  All they need to do is:

• Organise an event – it can be big or small, and there are lots of tips on our website.
• Register the event – so the people in their neighbourhood know what's on and how to find it.
• Order free resources – fun activity books for kids, sticker books, balloons and more.
