Community liaison social worker (CLSW) positions were established in 1995 to provide information to the community and targeted professional groups about the work of Child, Youth and Family and our role in the prevention of child abuse and neglect. They have an educational role to play not only in raising awareness about child abuse and neglect but also in helping community groups to develop child abuse reporting protocols. CLSWs are employed in most areas of New Zealand.
There are 21 CLSWs covering the main regions in New Zealand from Whangarei to Invercargill. They work closely with the National Office Public Education team to implement national awareness campaigns at local levels, including media liaison.
You can contact the Call Centre (0508 FAMILY/0508 326 459) to ask for details of your nearest CLSW.
