Applications are invited for a full time permanent Care and Protection Social Work Supervisor based at Whenuapai site.

 

The role of the Supervisor is to manage and work alongside a team of social workers and other agents to protect children and/or to ensure care and security for children in the care or custody of the service.

The position is responsible for the supervision of enthusiastic social workers and support staff who deliver social work services to the range of client groups in the area.  You will work, in conjunction with other supervisors, in an environment that is progressive, supportive and professional, with a focus on positive, client centred social work practice.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate:

  • A level B or level 6 social work qualification on the NZQA framework
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • An ability to work cross culturally
  • Sound leadership and management abilities.
  • Good computer skills
  • A current drivers licence

A qualification or study toward a qualification in Supervision is desirable.

 

Child Youth and Family, a service line of the Ministry of Social Development (MSD), recognise and has a commitment to the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi.  In recognition of this commitment appointees may be required to undertake a period of secondment to an iwi social service or a cultural social service.
