Description:

Applications are invited for a full time permanent Care and Protection Social Worker position in our Nelson office.  The role of a statutory Social Worker is to work with families and other organisations, to protect children and/or to ensure care and security for children in the care or custody of Child, Youth & Family.  The preferred applicants will hold a Level B or Level 6 on the NZQA framework qualification in Social Work or other relevant tertiary qualifications with emphasis on Social Work.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate:

  • A level B or level 6 Social Work qualification on the NZQA framework (BSW and MSW degrees are an advantage)
  • Knowledge of current care and protection processes
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Be culturally aware, sensitive to other people and their surroundings with the ability to competently manage self and workload, and be a committed team member
  • Knowledge of Te Reo and/or Tikanga Maori
  • Maori or Pacific Island cultural skills an advantage
  • An ability to work cross culturally
  • ability to work effectively with clients to achieve positive outcomes
  • Good computer skills
  • A current drivers licence (Manual/automatic)
