The Social Workers in Schools programme works by partnering together with key organisations. We are all committed to working together to enhance the lives children and young people.

These are the key players that work together to bring you the SWiS programme:

Child, Youth and Family
Fund and oversee the programme, and provide training for the social workers and community partners.

Community providers
Child, Youth and Family gives local community groups funding to employ a SWiS social worker. Social workers collaborate with school staff, and build a relationship of trust with students and their families.

Schools
The social worker is based in schools around their local area, They will work in up to four schools with a total roll of 400-700 students. Each school provides the social worker with a space (e.g. room or office) to meet with students and their families.

Working together

We are all working together to meet the education, health and social needs of our children and young people.

We encourage school staff to take the time to talk with SWiS social workers and find out how the programme can benefit students and their families.

To make the programme a success, we need school staff to promote it to students and make it easy for families to approach the social worker.
