"…now I have hopes and dreams."

When 15 year old Josh went to stay at a youth justice residence it was a turning point for his whole family.

During his stay, Josh got into the school and sports activities, and made the most of the skills he was taught. He learnt how to apply for a job, and got a school qualification.

When it came time to leave the residence, Josh, his social worker and his family looked at how to help him move on, be strong and not go back to his old life.

Together the family worked on getting some rules, and the whole whānau got around Josh to support him. Josh has been following the family rules, is now doing a course to help him get a job, and has been doing work experience at a recreation centre.

He is loving his new path, loving life and has a great future ahead of him.

"I didn't realise how many people cared about me. It was hard, but now I
have hopes and dreams for my future."
